RV.net Rally 2009 Yearbook

In an attempt to get to know and recognize this year's rally attendees before the rally actually starts, we're getting a head start on a yearbook.  Below you will find a short story and hopefully a photo of this year's rally attendee's.  Screen names/user id's are in bold.  Clicking on the "full size image" link will open a new window.

Tradewinds (Wagon Master for the 2004 & 2005 rallies)

Bob and Sue (Tradewinds) have been RV-ing since their marriage in 1986 and we both RV'd in our previous lives also. Sue went so far as to drive a converted school bus to Alaska when the highway was not near as nice as it is now back 1976. We have put almost 100K miles on our MH since we bought it in 2000 and hope to put many more on it over the years to come. Its been to Alaska twice, down into the Baja and mainland Mexico, across the US four times and and to 44 states. We spend about 6 months out of the year on the road, we have attended all the RV Net rallies in the Northwest except the first one. We are active in a number of RV associations and travel with some of our Rally members during the year. We have 6 children, 13 grandchilden and expecting more of the grandchildren. Golf, fishing and restoring cars are the hobbies that keep us busy..

We are Ryan & Beth Eaton. We are in out late 30’s and were married in September 2005. We reside in Spanaway Washington (South of Tacoma in Pierce County).

Beth works for a local healthcare provider in patient accounts.

I am an Owner Operator truck driver. I own 2 trucks that are leased to a family owned and run company that has been in business for over 50 years. I haul mostly steel.

We are expecting out first child in December 2008. Both of us started camping (now rving) at a young age.

We travel with 2 dogs. Misty Jo our Golden Retriever & Tia our 3 legged Lab rescued by Old Fella & Dixie Flyer in Georgia. She traveled to Washington with volunteer members or RV.net. The trip took a little over two weeks.

When not camping we enjoy riding our Harley Davidson FLHTI (Electra Glide Standard), Photography & movies.

  DavidG

David & Laura were married in 1981.  We have a son who married a nice young woman who already had 2 kids which made us instant grandparents, and a daughter who has yet to leave home who is almost 21.

Our camping days started out in a tent while we traveled around on our Goldwings (we've had 2 of them).  Laura got tired of getting down on the ground and having the air mattress go flat under her (never happened to me), so we upgraded to our first travel trailer in 2002.  We just upgraded again (April 2008) to a slightly larger trailer with a bit more room without alot of added weight.

We have a few friends from our motorcycling days that also have RV's (like HankNLinda) and we'll hook up with them sometimes, but we also just like to get away from the rat race and go by ourselves.  We call it quality time.

Pam and I (Bob) have been married since 1971, and are the proud parents of two children, ages 26 and 30, but no grandchildren – yet.

Our camping experience began with a 9x9 umbrella tent just after we were married. After a couple of years of sleeping on the cold, wet ground the tent was retired to a corner of the basement. We decided it would be more fun to vacation on the water then tent in it, so we bought a cruiser and then a few years later, a larger one, taking the kids all over Puget Sound and the Canadian waters. But, as kids do, they grew up and lost interest in boating so the boat saw less and less use. In 1995, we bought a Class C and started enjoying camping without having to anchor out and dingy into shore. We could also travel around the country and took a four week trip to New York & Washington DC. Also, the kids could join us by car without feeling they were being “held captive”. As the kids got even older and went off to do their own “thing”, we decided in ‘03 to move up to a Diesel Pusher and spend more time out “roughing it” in style. Besides, we were getting older and bigger is always better. Since we were using the DP more and more, it meant the boat got less and less use, so it was sold. I think the wife was glad I got rid of my 9,000 lb mistress.

With the DP, in 2004 we started doing the snowbird thing in Yuma, Arizona for three months each year. That has proven to be such an enjoyable experience that we may extend our stay down there a little longer, but not to the extent we give up our permanent home in Kent. We’re still homebodies and need our “base”. We are also active in four chapters of the Holiday Rambler Recreational Vehicle Club, with each one holding rallies several times a year. That gives us plenty of opportunities to use the coach and meet people. Unlike members of the Holiday Rambler chapters, the members of the RV.net group are more diverse and have had different life experiences. We have met some very nice people thru the forum and at the rallies.

I spent my working career as an Insurance Investigator, retiring in 1999. Pam worked as a Patient Care Coordinator at Harborview before retiring in 2002. She still fills in occasionally on a part time basis, as long as it doesn’t interfere with our camping.

Carol and I (Tom) have been RVing off and on for 25 yrs. First tent, then trailer, then a class C. When we retired 2 1/2 yrs ago we bought a class A Pace arrow. Now we are never home.
I retired from Boeing in Portland and Carol from Nabisco {AKA Kraft}.
We have 5 children and 6 grandkids. Love all of them, but love seeing them in the rearview mirror even more.
We love traveling and meeting new people.
Vancouver Wa is where we call home when the RV is parked.

Jim was born in Wyoming and raised in eastern Washingtion before hiring into the Bremerton shipyard. He retired in March 1993.
Barb was born in Seattle and hasn't lived outside Bremerton since moving here as a baby, except for a short time working in Seattle after graduation, prior to being dragged back to Bremerton by Jim where they were married in Nov. 1961. They still reside in Bremerton in the house they purchased in 1964.
Jim & Barb were blessed with a son in 1963 and a daughter in 1964. They now have one Grandson.
They tent camped off and on prior to purchasing their first travel trailer in 2000. In 2008 they purchased their second RV, a Nash 23-5A 5th wheel trailer and are towing it with a 1997 white Ford F250 dsl.
They are not snowbirds, so normally go the condo timeshare route for their trips during the colder months.

Bob & Elsie are still anchored to jobs at this time. We started with the northwest rally in 2007.
Last year we were fortunate to have an 8 week sabbatical combined with 3 weeks of vacation
and had a great time while logging over 17k miles in 28 states.

Linda and Jim have been married 41 years, have two adult sons, and 5 grandchildren. We have worked together many of those years and plan on fulltiming within the next two years. I have rebuilt and remodeled over 30 RVs over the years and have spent the last 2 years on our fulltimer rig, a '97 33 Alpenlite. We have thoroughly embraced the RV lifestyle and are looking forward to many years of traveling and workamping.

Dave and Loree Doscher

We met in Alaska 30 years ago.  Moved to Moses Lake in 1994. Have been retired for 8 years.  Lucky for the both of us we have a sense of humor.  Have 3 children and 3 grandkids. A daughter lives in Spokane.  A grand daughter  lives in Texas.  All the rest of the family is still in Alaska.

We spent most of our early years off road camping with 3 kids and 150lb dog in an 8 ft camper.

In 1985 we switched to a Class A.  Have had three different Class A’s.  In 2005 we purchased our current rig, a Coachmen Concord  B+, 29’ with 2 slides.  We both like to drive it.  Still enjoy camping in State and Federal Campgrounds.  Just trying to see as much of the US as we can.  Spend about 6 months a year on the road.   Life is good.  We look forward to meeting new friends and  catching up with all our RV. net  friends.

Montana29

Darrell & Emmalou have been married 50 years this November. We have always enjoyed the outdoors. We started with a pop-up tent trailer then to a cabover on a Ford truck, after that a minni whinni class C, then to a 27ft motor home. Went to Alaska in 2002 with a 27ft comfort 5th wheel towed by a ford gas truck and now travel in a 35ft Montana 5th wheel pulled with a 99 ford deisel. We travel with one dog (Lucky, age 14) and enjoy belonging to a Good Sam Chapter camp group. Have been to two RV. net rallies and have really enjoyed them. A lot of really good people.

Stay tuned for more to come.........
